What Dreams May Come: Snakes Alive!

I rarely remember my dreams but, when I do, they are usually prophetic. Like when I was pregnant with my son, but I thought we were having a girl, and I dreamed about giving birth to a little girl wearing running shoes who tried to crawl back inside me.

The night before last, I dreamed about a small, maybe 3 inch long, green snake, that I interpreted as being venomous. I “owned” this snake, but never really seemed to be afraid of being bitten by it. The snake, which did not live in an aquarium or any other enclosure, got outside somehow, and when I went to bring it back inside I found another of the same size and species. Bringing them both into the house, I was quite content to just watch them slither around and interact with one another, until I noticed a large bulge protruding from the rear of one of them. Suddenly scared, I picked up the little snake and put it outside in front of my door while I watched from inside to see what was going on. Very quickly, this little, tiny green snake gave birth to at least a dozen FULL-SIZED ball pythons! I remember registering shock, surprise, and fear, and then they all slithered away out of sight, at which time I woke up.

The last time I dreamed of snakes, my family and I moved from Winnipeg to PEI. So, considering that moving is not on the books right now, I am really wondering what this dream could mean?

Snakes in dreams can represent:

  • fear & anxiety; fear of the unknown
  • being in the process of healing or resolving issues
  • intuition & spirituality
  • transition & transformation
  • difficult situations or unsettling emotions in your waking life
  • something unpredictable and out of your control
  • hidden threats and/or betrayal
  • creativity & potential

Dreaming of green snakes can represent:

  • bringing forth parts of yourself that have been neglected or ignored
  • connection with nature and the energies of the earth
  • time for personal growth and development, especially emotional
  • a call for a deep, meaningful relationship with someone
  • hope & healing
  • quiet
  • ignored jealousies

To dream of snakes giving birth could represent:

  • the emergence of a new idea or upcoming project

Dreaming of baby snakes could mean:

  • you are underestimating a threat

As far as how the dream made me feel goes, I felt positive and happy throughout, until the snake gave birth. But, even then, after the snakes had slithered away I still felt light. I didn’t feel heavy, foreboding, anger, anxiety, or any other negative emotion.

So I have found myself, over the last couple of days, trying to figure out what exactly the dream may have been telling me.

There have been some new developments in my life, lately. I have returned to writing, which I haven’t done in years. I am looking into a major career change that will allow me to work from home and will require me to go to school. We are talking to my mother-in-law again, who we stopped talking to back in August for the second time (that’s a whole other story!). The other half is having a really rough time dealing with his anxiety and depression as it relates to his job and, as a result, is always on the lookout for a new position. Not to mention that, whether he is aware of it or not, he is taking his frustrations out on us. Spiritually, I am more in-tune with myself than I have ever been, I think, and my spirituality has become a priority, as it always should be and should have been.

Emotionally, there is the situation with the other half. Then, my son has been giving us a really hard time lately. In fact, yesterday was one of the worst days we’ve had with him in a very long time. I am feeling detached from the other half due to his anxiety & depression, and how he acts/reacts because of it. I am struggling with not letting financial woes bog me down. I’m sure there is much more, as I know exactly how much of an emotional being I am, but I just can’t think of any right now.

I guess, for now, I will keep the dream in the back of my mind and when that AHA! moment arrives, as it always does, maybe I will be able to piece it altogether then.

If you have any insight to offer me, feel free to leave a comment below. )O(

Blessings,

C.
